First-year students, also known as freshers, are especially important to Blanko and therefore the subject of our constant care. We have trained student tutors who will help freshers get through their studies and everyday student life. Fresher, do not stay alone – be brave and come and experience the joys of studying with all of us!
Events for freshers
Information about every event will come through email list, but here are the most important events for freshers. More information can be found on Blanko’s website, Telegram and Discord.
- Fresher BBQ 3.9.2024 at 16:00 Guild room backyard
- Organised by Blanko, welcome event for freshers. Blanko offers free sausages.
- End of the orientation week 6.9.2024 at 18:00
- Hanging out event after first week. Bring your own bottle.
- OLuT’s fresher games 17.9.2024 at 17:00 TBA
- Collect your own team of freshers and compete against other OLuT guild’s fresher teams
- Hurmos 12.-13.9.2024
- Starting event of the semester by OYY and OSAKO. Thursday is for guild and organisations to present their activies in Linnanmaa. Lots of overall patches to buy. On Friday there are bands at Kuusisaari.
- OLuT Battle of the Freshmen 17.9.2024 at 17:00 Linnanmaa sports center (Virkakatu 1)
- Battle against other freshman groups in different (not serious) races!
- OLuT fresher orientation 26.9.2024
- Collect your own team for fun little orientation by OLuT.
- Fresher sauna 12.9.2024 at 17:00 Teekkaritalo (Kalervontie 7)
- Fresher sauna with official part of the event. After official part there are sauna and just hanging out with other Blanko’s members.
- OLuT fresher sitsit 10.10.2024
- Sitsit are academic table party, and OLuT organises one for freshers.
Checklist for new students
To help your studies, you should do the following things.
- Join as a member of Blanko.
- Download the following apps on your phone
- Cella – You can reserve spaces for group works at the University
- Tuudo – Student card, library card, restaurant menus and your schedule all in one app
- Oulu Campus Navigator – Helps you find even the rarest lecture rooms at the University. Works via Bluetooth
- Kide.app – Buy tickets for various events
- Add Blanko’s event calendar to your own calendar Google Calendar, iCal
- Ask student tutors, members of the board, on Telegram or on Discord if you have any questions
- Start collecting fresher points. Fresher passports arrive during fall, but you can collect points already before getting one.
- Feel free to join Blanko’s activities as an active member. More on that below.
Join Blanko’s activities
There can never be too many Blanko actives. Feel free to attend the board meetings and share your ideas on improving our guild. Guild activities are for having fun and spending time together and are based on voluntary work. We have a friendly and open atmosphere, and it is easy to join us. If you have even the slightest interest in attending our meetings, please don’t hesitate to come! We announce the time and place of our board meetings through email and the event calendar.
